What Factors Impact Urn Prices?

Selecting an urn for your loved one is usually one of the final things you must do when arranging funeral services. There are many things that can impact an urn's cost, below we have listed just a few of them for your consideration.

Intent

When we say intent, we mean what is your intent with the deceased's cremated remains? Are you planning on keeping them on display in your home or scattering them in a special, meaningful place? You could be considering dividing up the ashes among loved ones into smaller keepsake urns or memorial jewelry. If you are able to answer these questions then you will then be able to start narrowing down your search for an urn. You can see above that one of the scattering tubes we have available are one of the least expensive options where as the others, considered to be display urns, are more expensive. If you are considering dividing the ashes, we recommend you review this page, where you can see what keepsake urns we have available.

Material & Embellishment

The price of an urn is very dependent on the material used to create the urn. For example, different wood types vary in price for raw materials and in turn impact the end cost of the urn. Another important factor that impacts the price is the amount of detail or work put into the urn for it to be completed. If there are intricate designs in the wood or painted onto the urn, the more detailed it is, the more expensive it is.

Size

Though many display urns are created similar in size, the difference between a keepsake cremation urn and a display cremation urn is vast. Depending on what you would like to do with the ashes after a cremation, divide them into keepsake urns or display the urns in a family members home, will determine the size of the cremation urn you will need. Another reason size is an important consideration is based on the amount of ashes that will need to be stored. For example, the cremation of a person that weighs 120 lbs will have less ash than someone who weighs 220 lbs.
