Urn Vaults

What is a Cremation Vault?

An urn vault, or as it is commonly referred to, a cremation vault, is an enclosure that an urn goes into before it is buried. Typically, a cremation vault is made out of concrete but can also be made out of steel, polystyrene, or high-grade plastics. These urn vaults often allow the opportunity for decorative elements to help personalize and represent the deceased better.

Why do I Need One When Burying an Urn?

Just as you would for a casket, an urn needs protection from the elements when placed into a grave. In fact, many cemeteries will not bury an urn or casket without one, even though it is not legally required. Sometimes, heavy machinery is used when digging new graves or maintaining current ones. It is not uncommon for the earth to shift underneath this machinery or for other reasons, so an urn vault plays a vital role in protecting the urn. Therefore, it is essential to have an urn vault in an effort to preserve the urn and the cremated remains inside of that urn.
